products before a discriminating audience.
In 1981 the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) relaxed the rules governing
underwriting announcements on public radio.
The business "name only" regulation was
dropped. Business announcements may include
not only its name, but also its location and
a statement about the products and/or
services to more fully identify the business
to the audience. Brand/trade names, a phone
number, and registered slogans may also be
included. Individuals and larger
organizations and companies are allowed to
underwrite current radio programs or create
their own.
We have
found that our listening audience is most
likely to retain information presented in
short and concise messages. Therefore,
we offer
your business, group or organization an
opportunity to
underwrite public service announcements and
short program segments such as: Thankful,
Word to the Wise, That’s What’s Up or In the
Spotlight (please refer to program list
for description). Such underwriting for the
public service announcements or program
segments of this nature typically includes:
